The PhD degree program seeks to imbue in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering and the capability of formulating and conducting independent and original research and development in a chosen specialization. Students must successfully complete an advanced study program including postgraduate courses and a thesis of significant original research. Students are also required to take a qualifying examination to fulfill graduation requirements. The program usually takes three or four years of full-time study to complete subject to the holding of relevant Master's or Bachelor's degree.
