As part of the HKUST’s Summer Camp 2019, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering hosted a workshop on 28 Jun 2019 for 30 high school students with the objective of promoting STEM education and experimental learning. The workshop, initiated by Prof. David Lam, was guided by Dr. Sunny Chan with the help of 7 students from the HKUST Aero Team.

During the workshop, high school students were introduced to basic aircraft design, which they later applied to build and fly rubber-band-powered gliders. The winning team broke the workshop record flying for 25.5 m. "The workshop provides a space for trying and be innovative.  It's a great and creative activity!" participants were enthused by the workshop for experiencing engineering.
